We’re on a boat. It’s as real as it gets.

- After much anticipation, our Sunday outing finally arrived. 8 of us headed to the Royal Palace where we fed the birds. Then off to the riverside where I treated the girls to a sunset boat cruise!
- Most of them had never been on a boat before. Ever. So precious to share that.
- Afterward we piled back in the tuk-tuk. Curiously the phrase “sit on me” also sounds like “shit on me.”
- Am determined to organize a regular Sunday activity. Either in the dorm or outside. It just so easy to please them and it feels so rewarding.
View from my tuk-tuk at night.

- Saw an enormous rat run through our kitchen today. None of the girls seemed bothered by it. Should I?
- Went paintballing with a group of friends! In Phnom Penh, who knew?
- Now have enormous welt on my leg.
- After regularly taking motos, going out in a tuk-tuk feels like a throne.
I’ll take a number 4, please.

- Am loving Phnom Penh more and more. It’s way more developed and liveable than I was expecting. It also seems like everyone is excited to be here, both Khmer and foreigners. Just saying… may want to return.
- Had a day off but spent much of the morning sorting out Haiti details. Deb is there now administering exams. I’ll be doing the same thing come April, and we’ll both be there for the September exams. The first year is always the hardest!
- When I finally got out of the house my options were Toul Sleng (museum about Khmer Rouge) or hotel pool. I chose sunbathing over genocide. Does that make me a horrible person?
- Met up with some Couchsurfers and got into an intense (and awesome) conversation about freedom, choices, stability, life, etc. Expats are deep.
Dinner! They love the peace sign…

- Skype date with my family this morning! My sister’s pregnant y’all.
- Class went much better today. Pitted the girls against each other in a descriptive vocabulary game. Didn’t know they had it in them to be so competitive!
- Almost every straw here has a spoon at the end, slurpee style. Not sure why.
- Think my tolerance for heat is increasing. Both temperature and spice.
To go coffee.
